An indexing chuck is a mechanical device in a machine tool used to clamp workpieces. A mechanical attachment that secures and positions the workpiece using uniform radial movement of the movable jaw on the card body. The chuck usually consists of three parts: the card body, the movable jaw and the jaw driving mechanism. The diameter of the card body is at least 65 mm and more is 1500 mm, and there is a hole in the center through which the workpiece or bat can pass. There is a cylindrical or short tapered structure on the back, which is connected to the end of the machine tool spindle directly or through a flange. Clamps are commonly installed on lathes, cylindrical grinders and internal cylindrical grinders and can be used with a variety of indexing devices that can be used for milling and drilling. A 'chuck' is a mechanism used to clamp workpieces on a machine tool.
What are the classifications of indexing chucks?
In terms of the number of claws, it can be divided into two claws, three claws, four claws, six claws, special claws, etc. The power used can be divided into manual chuck, pneumatic chuck, hydraulic chuck, electric chuck, mechanical chuck, etc. Structurally, it can be divided into blank chuck and middle actual chuck.
What is the maintenance method for indexing chuck?
1. After regular use of the lathe chuck, the accuracy is still very good, so lubrication work is very important. Inaccurate or insufficient lubrication can lead to problems such as abnormal function at low pressure, weakened clamping force, reduced clamping accuracy, abnormal wear and paper jams, so the card needs to be properly lubricated. 2. Apply molybdenum disulfide oil (black in color) at least once a day, and add oil into the card nozzle until the oil passes through the claws or the inner hole of the card (inner hole protective sleeve and link nut). However, if the chuck is highly rotated or a large amount of water-containing cutting fluid is used for machining, more lubrication is required, so the decision should be made based on the situation. 3. After the work is completed, the card body and track surface must be cleaned with an air gun or similar tools. 4. Remove the card and disassemble it for cleaning at least every 6 months to keep the sliding surface of the claw clean and lubricated to extend the life of the card. However, if the cutting cast iron is cleaned at least once every 2 months and every part is checked for cracks and wear, serious people will immediately replace it with new products. After the inspection is completed, sufficient oil must be provided to establish it. 5. Different clamping methods should be used for different workpieces, or special fixtures should be made. The three-jaw chuck has only one universal tooth. It is difficult to use it to clamp irregular or strange workpieces, which may cause damage to the jam! If the card pressure is abnormal, the chuck may be under a higher pressure, or the chuck may clamp the workpiece after the machine is shut down, thus reducing the card life! Therefore, if you find that the distance between the cards is too large, you should replace the card with a new one immediately. 6. Use cutting fluid with anti-rust effect to prevent rust inside the card. Because if the card is rusted, the clamping force will decrease and the workpiece cannot be clamped.
