What is the difference between hollow hydraulic and medium solid hydraulic chucks? Which one is better?
Anyone who does machining knows that there are many types of chucks. In terms of power, there are hydraulic, pneumatic, and manual chucks. In terms of structural characteristics, they can be divided into hollow chucks and medium-solid chucks. What's the difference between them? Which one is better?

The difference between hollow and medium-solid hydraulic chucks can be distinguished from its usage characteristics:
① Hollow, in other words, it is hollow in the middle. The clamped workpiece can be cut through the chuck. It is generally suitable for the mass production of some bar materials. It needs to work with a tie rod with a through-hole design. In addition, the current hollow chuck comes with a dust cover. As the name suggests, with this dust cover, it can not only be used as a real chuck, but also dustproof, waterproof, and iron filings. It is very practical.
② Medium solid, in other words, the middle is solid. The clamped workpiece cannot pass through the chuck. It needs to be used with a solid tie rod. It is generally suitable for clamping some short bars and other workpieces. It is easy to operate and not as troublesome as a hollow chuck.
③ Hollow. Due to the through-hole design, it is easy to be contaminated and some iron filings can easily enter the inside of the chuck. It needs to be disassembled and blown out regularly;
④ Medium solid, due to the relatively closed solid design, it is not easily affected by iron filings, dust, etc.
When we choose a hydraulic chuck, we will inevitably have misunderstandings. Which one should we choose? In fact, they all have their own strengths and weaknesses. You should not get entangled in this. It is best to choose the appropriate chuck provided by Bedford Machinery according to the needs of the workpiece. There is no such thing as a good one or a bad one.
